Fertility & Conception

Pre-conception health, fertility support and guidance to help you start your journey in the strongest way possible

Bringing a new life into the world is one of the most important and exciting things you'll ever do, and the journey begins long before a positive test. What you do in the weeks and months before conception can have a real impact on your pregnancy, your birth, and you and your baby's long-term health. Having the right support during this time helps you start that journey in the strongest, most informed and most confident way possible. Clients who conceive in an intentional way, having done the research, learning and planning before becoming pregnant, generally go on to have easier, more positive pregnancy, birth and postnatal journeys. Of course, for some this journey is a very stressful, sometimes scary rollercoaster - and for those families, having a doula by their side can do so much for reducing trauma and grief.

Whether you're just starting to think about having a baby, actively trying to conceive, navigating fertility treatments such as IVF or IUI, or exploring alternative routes to parenthood, I offer bespoke practical and emotional support that meets you wherever you are. This can include fertility awareness education to help you understand your cycle and optimise your timing, help with accessing evidence-based pre-conception guidance covering areas like nutrition, supplementation, stress management and sleep, as well as holistic approaches such as aromatherapy and relaxation techniques that support your overall wellbeing.

Getting your body and mind into the best possible place before conception isn't just about increasing your chances of falling pregnant - it's about laying the foundations for a healthy pregnancy and giving you and your baby the best start. I'll help you understand what you can do now to optimise your health, and support you in making changes that feel manageable and right for your life.

I also provide a calm and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about your feelings (the excitement, the hope, and if things aren't going to plan, the frustration and grief that can come with this). Fertility journeys can put significant pressure on mental health and relationships, so sometimes you simply need someone who understands to listen and hold that space for you without agenda.

My support is fully tailored to your needs. You might want a single session to talk things through, or ongoing support across your fertility journey. Whether you're at the very beginning of trying, mid-treatment, or recovering from a loss, I'll work with you to create a plan that feels right.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a fertility doula do?

A fertility doula provides practical and emotional support before and during conception. This includes access to pre-conception health guidance to optimise your body for a healthy pregnancy, fertility awareness education to help you understand your cycle, evidence-based lifestyle guidance, holistic wellbeing approaches, and a supportive space to navigate the emotional side of your journey.

How can pre-conception support help me have a healthier pregnancy?

The weeks and months before conception are a valuable window to optimise your health. Evidence-based pre-conception support can improve fertility, reduce the risk of complications during pregnancy and give your baby the best possible start from the very beginning.

Can a doula support me during IVF or IUI treatment?

Yes. Doula support is available throughout assisted fertility treatments including IVF and IUI. Support covers both the practical and emotional aspects of treatment cycles, helping you prepare your body, manage stress, understand your options and feel supported at every stage. Support is also available for natural conception and alternative routes to parenthood, such as surrogacy.

When should I start working with a fertility doula?

Ideally before you start trying to conceive. Pre-conception is one of the most impactful times to make positive changes to your health and lifestyle. However, you can start at any point. Whether you are just beginning to think about having a baby, actively trying, mid-treatment or navigating a loss, sessions are tailored to wherever you are on your journey.

Is fertility doula support available online or in person?

In person fertility and pre-conception support is available throughout Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Peterborough and London, and virtually anywhere in the UK or internationally. Virtual sessions use video calls and are equally effective for education, emotional support and ongoing guidance throughout your conception journey. I can also attend medical appointments with you both virtually and in-person.

How can a doula help with the emotional side of trying to conceive?

Trying to conceive can bring a wide range of emotions from excitement and anticipation to frustration and grief. A fertility doula provides a dedicated, confidential space to talk openly about all of these feelings without judgement, helping you stay connected to the positive aspects of your journey while processing any difficulties along the way.
